Lab objectives and outcomes

Students will be able to describe the sequence of key events (depolarization, synaptic transmission, and neurotransmitter release) that constitute the transmission of an electrical impulse through a neuron.
Students will be able to trace the pathway of an electrical impulse from its initiation to its transfer across a synapse, identifying the specific neuron structures involved.
Students will be able to analyze the impact of neurotransmitter release on the postsynaptic neuron, explaining how it contributes to signal propagation within the nervous system.

Trace Fossils
A simulation where learners explore how trace fossils—like footprints, burrows, and feeding marks—form and what they reveal about ancient organisms’ behavior, movement, and interactions with their environment.

Track learner progress

Run this simulation with a class and watch it happen: who started, who finished, and how long each learner took. Drill into a run to see what they actually did.

Powered by SimGenie AI

SimGenie acts as a built-in lab assistant. A learner who gets stuck can ask for a hint by voice, and it adapts its guidance to what they are doing in the scene.

Osmosis

A simulation where learners observe water movement across semi-permeable membranes in plant and animal cells, adjusting solute concentrations to explore hypotonic, hypertonic, and isotonic environments and understand the principles of osmosis.

Impulse Transmission Through Neurons

A simulation where learners trace the path of an electrical impulse through a neuron, observing depolarization, synaptic transmission, and neurotransmitter release to understand how signals travel within the nervous system.

BiologyGrades 6-12

Codominance

A simulation where learners explore codominance by breeding organisms with different alleles, observing how both traits appear equally in the offspring, and visualizing genotype and phenotype ratios through Punnett squares.

BiologyGrades 9-12

Genetic Engineering

A simulation where learners explore the process of genetic engineering by selecting genes to modify traits in organisms, visualizing techniques like gene splicing and recombinant DNA, and understanding real-world applications and ethical considerations.

BiologyGrades 9-12

Immune System Cells

A simulation where learners interact with key immune system cells—like macrophages, T cells, and B cells—to see how they recognize, respond to, and remember pathogens, building understanding of immune defense mechanisms.

BiologyGrades 6-12

Photosynthesis

An interactive simulation where learners explore how plants convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen, visualizing each stage of photosynthesis and experimenting with environmental variables to see their effects on the process.
