Newton's First Law of Motion [Timed Unguided]

A simulation where learners observe objects in motion and at rest, exploring how forces—or the absence of them—affect motion, to understand Newton’s First Law: an object remains at rest or in uniform motion unless acted upon by a net force.

Lab objectives and outcomes

Students will be able to explain the concept of inertia as it applies to objects at rest and in uniform motion.
Students will be able to analyze how the presence or absence of a net force determines whether an object's state of motion changes.
Students will be able to predict the future motion of a virtual object based on its current state and the applied forces, consistent with Newton's First Law.

Electric Forces
A simulation where learners investigate electric forces by placing charged objects in a field, observing attraction or repulsion, and exploring how force varies with charge magnitude and distance according to Coulomb’s Law.

Track learner progress

Run this simulation with a class and watch it happen: who started, who finished, and how long each learner took. Drill into a run to see what they actually did.

Powered by SimGenie AI

SimGenie acts as a built-in lab assistant. A learner who gets stuck can ask for a hint by voice, and it adapts its guidance to what they are doing in the scene.

Forms of Energy

A simulation where learners explore different forms of energy—such as kinetic, potential, thermal, chemical, and electrical—by interacting with real-world scenarios and observing how energy transforms and transfers between forms.

PhysicsGrades 6-12

Newton's First Law of Motion

A simulation where learners observe objects in motion and at rest, exploring how forces—or the absence of them—affect motion, to understand Newton’s First Law: an object remains at rest or in uniform motion unless acted upon by a net force.

PhysicsGrades 6-12

Newton's Second Law of Motion

A simulation where learners apply varying forces to objects of different masses and observe resulting accelerations, illustrating Newton’s Second Law: F = ma, the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration.

PhysicsGrades 6-12

Using Newton's Third Law of Motion

A simulation where learners explore action-reaction force pairs by observing interactions like rockets launching or objects colliding, illustrating Newton’s Third Law: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

PhysicsGrades 6-12

Changes Between Kinetic and Potential Energy

A simulation where learners observe objects in motion—like a swinging pendulum or a roller coaster—to see how energy shifts between kinetic and potential forms, reinforcing conservation of energy through interactive, real-time visual feedback.

PhysicsGrades 6-12

Archimedes Principle

A simulation where learners submerge various objects in fluids to explore buoyant force, observing how weight, volume, and fluid density affect whether objects sink or float—demonstrating Archimedes' Principle in action.

PhysicsGrades 6-12

Simple Machines

A simulation where learners interact with simple machines—like levers, pulleys, and inclined planes—to see how they reduce effort, trade force for distance, and demonstrate mechanical advantage in real-world tasks.
